世界の周氷河環境に見られる特徴的な地形や表層構造について講述し，それらの周氷河プロセスに関する研究法を論ずる．
1. Periglacial environments: Classification & environmental significance
2. Ground freezing: Thermal regime in frozen/unfrozen ground
3. Periglacial weathering: Frost/non-frost weathering, rockfalls & rockwall retreat
4. Frost heave and sorting: Differential heave vs. convection
5. Periglacial slopes: Solifluction, rapid mass movements & slope evolution
6. Permafrost processes: Thermal contraction cracking & permafrost creep
7. Cold desert geomorphology in Antarctica: Processes & rates
8. Periglacial environments in Japan: Glacial vs. interglacial
